Just over 12 years ago I was living at home in Western Sydney (Mount Druitt) with my single mother who was on a small pension at the time. We lived in a pretty rough neighbourhood and money was the source of all of our problems...
I remember feeling helpless during this period in my life. I didn't grow up around wealth, success or have a mentor to guide me in the right direction. I was stuck in a cycle that I was terrified I would never break free from.
As all my friends at school fell victim to financing 'cool' cars and spending the savings they had on fancy brands or designer clothes, I knew I wanted to do something different. I didn't want to continue living this way for the rest of my life...
I started getting into magazines and books about wealth creation and property investing which opened my eyes to a completely different way of living and making money.
From then on, I dedicated most of my time to learning as much as I could about wealth and property. I also started working in fast food restaurants from the age of 14 so I could save up for my first property...
By age 18/19 I finally did it.
I had managed to save up 20k for a small 138k Unit on the Central Coast. It was nothing fancy or new but it was all I could afford at the time and it meant getting my foot in the market.
From this point on I knew this wasn't the end of it, I had a goal and I was going to reach it by investing in property.
